Tier List ranking the best water bottles and containers in Project Zomboid. Let’s take a look at the best ways to carry water.

Water Container Tier List

There are various containers that can be used to carry water in Zomboid. Some containers like the Water Bottle and Beer Bottle are seemingly similar but actually carry different amounts of water.

Not so much of a tier list but rather just water containers ranked by water to weight ratio. In Zomboid ranking water containers is pretty straight forward, just pick whatever has the best water to weight ratio.

Whilst the Watering Can can carry a lot of water (making it look ideal for watering plants) but collecting 4 bottles as a replacement isn’t hard at all.

S-Tier

The Bourbon and Beer Bottle are the best containers for carrying water in Zomboid with the highest water to weight ratios. They surprisingly have better ratios than the classic Water and Orange Soda containers.

You’d think that glass containers would weigh more… What’s strange is that the glass containers are heavier when empty but relatively weigh less when filled. Perhaps this is something that will change in the future.

A-Tier

Water Bottle, Orange Soda Bottle and Wine Bottle are also great choices. They have very good ratios and are quite easy to find.

B-Tier

The Saucepan has a great ratio too however you are kinda stuck with carrying quite a lot of water. Maybe a bit too much for your hydration needs.

The Mayonnaise and Remoulade containers also have good ratios but unfortunately they carry too little and are a bit rare to find.

C-Tier

If you need to carry a lot of water the Watering Can and Cooking Pot are great. However you will get a better ratio by just having multiple S-Tier bottles.

The Gardening Spray Can is decent but you’ll likely find a S or A-Tier alternative before this item.

D-Tier

Now were getting to the lower end of the list. The Cooking Pot, Kettle, Tumbler and Plastic Cup are options you can take when you have no choice. If there’s nothing else grabbing one of these from the kitchen will do.

E-Tier

The Bleach Bottle is usable but you’ll need to purify its contents. A bit of a nuisance.

The Bucket stores a lot of water but it’s heavy. There are just so many lighter alternatives.

F-Tier

These containers have terrible ratios. They are heavy and barely hold any water. Skip these, there’s probably something near by that’s better.
