The best spawn location in Project Zomboid for beginners is Riverside. However Rosewood is also another good option. These locations have a low zombie count and enough loot to give you a quick start in your solo games.

Riverside
First grab your basic loot from nearby homes then you can head to the (1) School for a backpack (lockers), baseball bat/helmet (gym storage), medicine (sick bay) and books to level up basic skills.
After finding a hammer and screwdriver you can head down to the (2) Police Station for some weapons.
Across the road you’ll find the (3) Gas Station. Top up your vehicle, grab some food and you’re ready for the road.
Rosewood
Similar to riverside after grabbing your basic loot from nearby homes you can head to the (1) School for a backpack, medicine and books (unfortunately no gym at this one).
Next you can head to the (2) Fire station for a helmet, Military Boot, axes and more medical supplies.
Across the road you’ll find the (3) Police Station. This one’s bigger than Riverside with a few more lockers to loot.
The (4) Gas Station is quite far away but with a vehicle it shouldn’t be hard to get to.
